The only reason I see for joining them is to eventually usurp Ulfric and take the throne myself. He's a broken man lashing out, Not some great leader of Men. He's responsible for weakening the Empire when they have bigger enemies on the horizon, Responsible for Alduin coming back, Because what True Nord of Skyrim doesn't know about the dragon prophesy, And he got himself captured mere months after a competent general came by to clean up the rebellion.

Now, the Dominion isn't exactly stupid, they know that should the Empire ever get it's strength back, it may have a chance at defeating them. Either the Empire give in and do whatever the Dominion wants, or it and every human gets wiped off the face of the earth. The Thalmor want to control both Skyrim and the Empire. To me, the White-Gold Concordat is the exact same thing. This 'Treaty' was not designed to create peace, it was created to establish control, without directly stating it, thus preventing potential revolutions. They were forced to take 100% of the blame for the war, pay reparations so high it caused one German mark to go from just under the worth of a US dollar, to less than a MILLIONTH of a US dollar, and allowed other countries to step over it like it was their slave.
